Amazon Image The Thermos Nissan 34-Ounce Vacuum Insulated Stainless-Steel Gourmet Coffee Press is an interesting idea. It is designed to keep your french press coffee warm for “hours” due to its thermal insulation. It’s like a french press and a thermal carafe all in one.

It has a solid 4 out of 5 star rating online, but there are a couple of minor issues that a lot of people seem to have experienced which we will get into shortly.

Thermos Nissan Features

The obvious selling point of this press is it’s thermal insulation. It is also described as unbreakable due to it’s double walled stainless steel design.

The design does keep your coffee warmer for longer than a glass french press, meaning you can make a brew and not have to worry about having to finish it before it gets cold. Either have it sat on your desk all morning or afternoon, or take it out with you somewhere you wouldn’t otherwise be able to.

A lot of people buy this french press for it’s resistance to being dropped too, not just for the insulation.

The Good

  • Keeps coffee warm for longer
  • Solid, won’t break when dropped

The Bad

  • Lid is not insulated – in theory this will cause some heat loss still
  • Many people have mentioned that the mesh will let too much silt and grinds through
  • Lid can sometimes leak

Our assumption when we first heard of the idea of a thermal french press is that the grinds are still in contact with the coffee at the bottom of the carafe which could potentially make the coffee go bitter, but going through the hundreds of user reviews that we have seen, we cannot find and complaints of this happening.

Therefore it would suggest that it’s not an issue, so if you are thinking about this press and are worried about the over-steeping that might occur then we recommend you click through on the links below and check the reviews out yourself, have a look at the return policy and decide whether it’s worth giving a try.

Who Should Buy The Thermos Nissan French Press?

Even ignoring the thermal insulation that will keep your coffee warm, the design of this press will be a great feature for you if you’re someone who is a little on the clumsy side and has already broken a glass press or two. For us, the insulation is a bonus but it also makes this press a good option for you if you like to take your time sipping your coffee without having to make a new brew every hour or two.

Take your time with this press and enjoy your coffee for longer.

Summary

All in all, a decent idea and a very popular choice for its two main features. And it is also a very affordable price at under $30 at the time of writing this review.
