Amazon Image The Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind & Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker is an easy to use fully programmable grind and brew drip coffee machine. It features a built-in burr grinder for making sure your beans are only ground right when they are needed.

The unit also features a charcoal water filter so that you don’t have to worry about where your water comes from! Use it straight out of the tap and still get a pure coffee flavour without any of the bitterness from tap water.

It also has a gold-toned coffee filter which is specially designed for only allowing the best flavours in your coffee to make it through into the carafe.

Cuisinart DGB-900BC Features

The warming plate begins to warm the carafe when you first turn the machine on so that the coffee is not being dripped into a cold carafe. This really makes a difference in the temperature of your coffee, making sure it stays nice and hot.

It holds 8 ounces of beans in the hopper, which is not huge but means that your beans won’t be sitting around inside it for too long before being transformed into great tasting coffee.

The 12 cup measurement translates into 40 ounces of coffee, which is the equivalent of two Venti sized coffees from starbucks, which in the real world means you’ll get up to 4 decent sized mugs of coffee from a single brew.

The Good

  • Good, hot, full bodied coffee
  • Built-in water filter so you can put tap water straight into it and still get a pure taste
  • Really easy to use
  • 3 year warranty
  • Makes more coffee in one go than various smaller models

The Bad

  • No settings to adjust the grind
  • Water level indicator is hidden around the back on one side of the unit making it awkward to see
  • Getting the last cup or two out of the carafe can be tricky
  • A little heavy on the coffee beans usage

Who Should Buy the Cuisinart DGB-900BC?

This is a decent, reliable automatic coffee machine and the timer makes it ideal for folks who are too busy in the mornings to spend time making a cup of coffee. Just program it to start at a certain time and hey presto! Even have it make a coffee just in time for when you wake up and you might even find yourself waking to the aroma of freshly ground and brewed coffee before your alarm even wakes you.

It’s larger carafe also means that it’s great for a family, or even just a couple who happen to like a nice large cup in the morning!

Summary

This machine has an average rating of 3 out of 5 stars from customers on Amazon at the time of writing which indicates that it is a good machine but one that is not perfect. If you can get used to the fact that it uses a bit more beans than other machines though you might find that this is the right choice for you, as that is what most people seem to take issue with.

If you like the idea of a nice hot coffee in the morning without having to do anything to make it, then the Cuisinart DGB-900BC is definitely worth considering.
